Historical Records Reviewer I / Derivative Classifier                        Location: Rockville, MD _ Hybrid


The Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR), Division of Security Operations (DSO), Information Security Branch (ISB), has a critical mission in the review and declassification of historical classified documents.

The Historical Records Reviewer / Derivative Classifier plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with Executive Order 13526 and Department of Energy (DOE) classification policies, contributing to national transparency and historical accountability. Candidates will work with sensitive materials requiring Top Secret clearance and must demonstrate expertise in classification protocols, analytical review, and secure document handling.

The Historical Records Reviewer Will:

  • Perform initial reviews of historical classified records.
  • Identify markings and apply declassification criteria.
  • Maintain accurate review logs and documentation.

The Historical Records Reviewer I / Derivative Classifier Will Have:

  • An Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Two to three years of experience in declassification review
  • Basic understanding of classification protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and reading comprehension.

Preferred Qualification:

  • A DOE Historical Records Restricted Data Reviewers (HRRDR) Certification.
