IMPORTANT NOTE: This opportunity is ONLY open to DoW SkillBridge candidates on active duty who are AT LEAST 11 MONTHS AWAY from separation and who can intern with CBP during their final 180, 120, or 90 days on active duty. DoW SkillBridge interns receive their active-duty salary during their internship participation.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, the position is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of the supply program for automotive equipment, parts and supplies. As a tool and parts attendant with Customs and Border Protection, you will become a valuable member of a team of professional supporting homeland security functions. Typical work assignments include:

  • Ensuring the timely acquisition, storage and disposal of automotive and maintenance tools, equipment, parts and supplies. 
  • Purchasing automotive parts, supplies, tools, equipment, vehicle repairs and services and any other items necessary to maintain fleet operations.  Retaining all purchase data and maintaining the information in a database. 
  • Receiving, unloading, and storing items; issuing parts to automotive mechanics and conducting quarterly and annual inventories of all capitalized equipment.
