STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (GS-13) - CBP USBP OFFICE OF FACILITIES AND ASSETS MANAGEMENT

Job Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This opportunity is ONLY open to DoW SkillBridge candidates on active duty who are AT LEAST 11 MONTHS AWAY from separation and who can intern with CBP during their final 180, 120, or 90 days on active duty. DoW SkillBridge interns receive their active-duty salary during their internship participation.

LOCATION: Washington DC

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, researching, writing, and editing internal and external publications and guidelines to keep employees informed about current OFAM programs, priorities, and initiatives within OFAM.
  • Developing communication products may include executive remarks, mass mailings, SharePoint maintenance, improvements, fact sheets, newsletters, posters, reports, press releases surveys, and presentations.
  • Partnering with internal subject matter experts and CBP communications offices to identify, develop, and recommend effective techniques to communicate operational policies, procedures, and information tailored to unique external audiences.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of OFAM communications strategies, materials, and programs that support and promote enhanced engagement with OFAM stakeholder communities.
  • Handling, drafting, reviewing, and packaging correspondence, communications, and messaging - including pre-decisional supervisor messaging, FOUO, personnel, and other sensitive content on behalf of the Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, and Chief of Staff. Serving as a liaison for multiple offices across CBP, to include the Office of Congressional Affairs and the Office of Public Affairs.
