SAIC has an immediate need for an Artillery Systems Engineer located onsite at Quantio, VA.
The candidate will provide technical expertise and life-cycle systems engineering support to the United States Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) Artillery and Support Equipment (A&SE) Team. This role directly supports engineering, integration, testing, and sustainment of Marine Corps indirect fire systems, fire support equipment, survey and meteorological tools, and target acquisition radar/sensor systems.

3. Family of Target Acquisition Systems (FTAS)
Key Responsibilities
Systems Engineering & Integration
  • Lead systems engineering for the M777, FSML equipment, and FTAS radar/acoustic systems.
  • Ensure interoperability between artillery weapon systems, sensors, survey equipment, and command-and-control networks.
  • Conduct interface control, configuration management, and requirements tracking.
Testing & Evaluation
  • Develop test plans for system modifications, upgrades, and new capability insertions.
  • Support developmental and operational testing for radars, acoustic sensors, and survey equipment.
  • Analyze test results and produce engineering recommendations.
Lifecycle & Sustainment Engineering
  • Support reliability, maintainability, and availability improvements for fielded systems.
  • Participate in failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and engineering corrective actions.
  • Assist with obsolescence management for legacy radars and survey equipment.
Technical Documentation & Requirements
  • Develop and maintain specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), engineering change proposals (ECPs), and technical data packages.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and validation with operators and stakeholders.
Field Support Coordination
  • Collaborate with Marine units, operators, and maintainers to capture field issues and desired improvements.
  • Support new equipment training (NET), demonstrations, and fielding events when needed.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and three (3+) years systems engineering experience supporting DoD technical programs.

Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of artillery, radar, sensor, survey, or meteorological systems.
  • Experience with systems engineering processes (INCOSE, MIL-STD-499, etc.).
  • Ability to write technical documents and conduct technical reviews.

Required Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
