You will be the Hardware IPT Lead for the TacIRST CLASS system within the ATWS NBAE program. Our team delivers the high performance infrared search and track hardware that powers Lockheed Martin’s missile and fire control portfolio. You’ll lead a cross functional group of precision mechanical designers, electrical engineers, structural and thermal analysts, electromechanical designers, and components and materials specialists to bring the system from concept to production ready hardware.
What You Will Be Doing
As the IPT Lead you will own the end to end hardware design effort, tracking progress across all disciplines, aligning processor builds with the program schedule, and guiding the transition to a production engineering team that optimizes high rate manufacturing. You will collaborate closely with other engineering domains and program stakeholders to ensure the hardware meets performance, reliability, and cost targets. Your responsibilities will include:
• Direct a multidisciplinary hardware team, fostering inclusive collaboration and clear communication across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and electromechanical domains.
• Define and maintain the hardware development roadmap, ensuring milestones align with overall program schedules and budget constraints.
• Oversee CAD and simulation activities (e.g., SolidWorks, ANSYS, thermal analysis tools), guaranteeing that designs satisfy performance and reliability requirements.
• Manage configuration management processes and documentation to keep design data current and audit ready throughout the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate lab and flight integration testing, using test equipment to validate hardware against specifications and to capture data for design refinements.
• Lead the hand off to the production engineering team, establishing manufacturing optimization strategies for high rate production.
• Prepare and present status reports, risk assessments, and technical briefs using Microsoft Office and other collaboration tools for senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and analysts, promoting a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and diverse perspectives.
