Description
SAIC is looking for a Logistics Supervisor for our Bedford, IN team.
Key Responsibilities include:
Leadership and Team Management
  • Supervise and lead the shipping and receiving team, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the department.
  • Monitor workloads and staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage to meet operational demands.
Operational Oversight
  • Oversee daily operations related to shipping, receiving, and material handling.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing, receiving, and shipping of goods in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile discrepancies in coordination with inventory control teams.
Shipping Management
  • Ensure accurate and timely shipment of outbound orders in compliance with customer requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and freight forwarders to schedule shipments and negotiate costs.
  • Track and troubleshoot any shipping delays, damages, or issues in transit.
Receiving Management
  • Coordinate the receipt of inbound materials and verify shipment accuracy (quantity, quality, and condition).
  • Ensure proper documentation and data entry in the warehouse management system (WMS) or ERP.
Process Optimization and Analytics
  • Analyze current workflows and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Create and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance and identify areas for improvement.
Safety and Compliance
  • Maintain and enforce warehouse safety standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Serve as a liaison between departments such as procurement, production, and customer service.
  • Responsible for updating stakeholders on delivery ETAs, issues, or disruptions.
Technology and Systems
  • Manage systems used for shipping, receiving, and inventory management (e.g., ERP, WMS software).
  • Ensure operational data is properly documented and accessible for audits.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and six (6) years or more of related experience; Masters and four (4) years or more experience; High School Diploma/GED and experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, ideally in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using logistics and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with internal teams and external logistics providers.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, freight classifications, and compliance standards (e.g., OSHA).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/move products up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours when required.
Certifications (Preferred):
  • Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or other relevant certifications.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
