You will be the Senior Pulsed Power Engineer for the Power & Plasma Team which is responsible for developing advanced pulsed power and plasma technologies for future air platforms.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Pulsed Power Engineer you will be responsible for delivering hardware solutions that enable high‑performance plasma experiments.
Your responsibilities will include:
Design, prototype, and fabricate pulsed power electronics and associated control hardware.
Develop and execute test procedures, troubleshoot hardware, and validate performance in a fast‑paced environment.
Create and maintain data acquisition systems and control software for plasma physics experiments.
Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to integrate solutions into larger system architectures.
Prepare technical reports, data analyses, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Performs research and/or product development encompassing multiple engineering disciplines, such as electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.
Bachelor’s degree or above in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or another technical degree program
Experience in pulsed power or power systems design and fabrication
Experience in design and fabrication of high voltage, high current, high energy, or high-power systems (above 1kV)
Experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, benchtop power supplies, LCR meters, and insulation testers
M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or another technical degree program, with strong background in experimental pulsed power and power electronics systems
Experience in design and implementation of controlling power electronics
Experience with design and analysis of high voltage (above 1kV) personnel safety such as high voltage standoff requirements, grounding requirements, insulation testing, arc flash calculations, and grounding/discharge stick specifications
Experience with energy storage devices such as batteries, ultracapacitors, high voltage film capacitors, high current inductors, and electromagnets and high voltage power control techniques using MOSFETs, IGBTs, etc.
Experience with high voltage and high current diagnostics such as high voltage probes, Rogowski coils, current transformers, Hall effect transducers, and grounding rods
Experience with control systems design and software implementation for power converters such as real-time controllers, FPGAs, PID control, stability analysis, and equipment protection devices
Experience with electronics design such as digital and analog circuits and printed circuit board design software such as EAGLE or Altium
Proficient in mathematical analysis and modeling tools such as MathCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape Electrical, and LTspice
Strong oral and written communication skills for interfacing with support organizations such as facilities and environmental health and safety, creating test plans and procedures for experiments, and presenting data to both technical and non-technical audiences
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00
