Position Summary

Odyssey is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) Systems Engineering Directorate in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you will help shape and integrate critical capabilities for an Intelligence Community customer, contributing to mission success across systems engineering, information systems, and signals intelligence. You will develop realistic models, design simulation tools, evaluate multi‑satellite constellation scenarios, and conduct statistical and operational analysis to guide system integration and performance improvements. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with customers to refine requirements, assess emerging technologies, and support end‑to‑end system design in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Support the integration of additional capabilities into the operational baseline and other activities in support of the customer office
  • Research problem areas then design and create realistic models to replicate outcomes in virtual environment
  • Design and develop tools and environments to run simulations of multiple satellite constellation scenarios evaluating outcomes to identify gaps and recommend improvements
  • Perform statistical analysis and operational research to determine most effective approach to implement/integrate systems for desired outcomes
  • Design, develop, evaluate, and modify end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
  • Function as Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements
  • Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts
  • Perform trade studies to assess technology trends and efficiencies

 

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: TS/SCI with polygraph

Education: BS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) in engineering discipline

Years of Experience: We are looking for a variety of skill leveles; Must have 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Ability to use and apply commercial and custom analytical tools to problem solving
  • Must be a team player and possess a strong ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team as well as work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers providing detailed and unbiased feedback, guidance, and recommendations
  • Good time management skills; ability to support multiple projects; ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive and forward leaning

 

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Experience with Commercial/Government acquisition or operations of satellite/ground segment hardware/software or satellite based special communications field set hardware/software
  • Experience with RF based satellite communications
  • Basic understanding of space-based RF communications methods, hardware/software
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing and processing segment hardware/software systems and waveform development
