Overview

LMI is seeking a Platform Engineer to support a Department of War (DoW) mission partner. The engineer configures, operates, and maintains cloud platforms in both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. The role supports infrastructure automation, application deployments, monitoring, and platform security while working with engineering, cybersecurity, and mission teams to deliver reliable cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, operate, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure to support mission applications, data services, and development environments.
  • Provision and manage compute, storage, virtual networking, Domain Name System, and cloud service configurations; coordinate application connectivity and dependencies with engineering teams.
  • Develop and maintain reusable infrastructure as code and scripts to automate provisioning, configuration, and repeatable deployments across environments.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines and version-controlled changes, including deployment testing, release validation, and rollback procedures.
  • Configure identity and access permissions, service identities, secrets management, and platform security controls in coordination with cybersecurity personnel and approved requirements.
  • Maintain monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerts to assess platform health, availability, capacity, performance, and resource consumption.
  • Troubleshoot platform incidents and integration issues across infrastructure, networks, identities, and applications; document root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform platform updates, patching, and configuration reviews; coordinate vulnerability remediation with cybersecurity teams and maintain current configuration baselines.
  • Maintain backup, recovery, and continuity procedures; validate restoration and failover capabilities appropriate to the supported services.
  • Work with engineering and mission stakeholders to translate platform needs into actionable tasks; maintain architecture diagrams, configuration records, deployment guides, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, operating, or supporting cloud environments in both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
  • Working knowledge of Linux or Windows administration, including system configuration, services, logs, patching, and basic security practices.
  • Experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or a comparable scripting language to automate operational tasks and maintain consistent configurations.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and the ability to review, update, and troubleshoot reusable infrastructure definitions.
  • Experience with source control and automated deployment workflows, including testing, release validation, and rollback of infrastructure or application changes.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, Domain Name System, routing, network access controls, and cloud service connectivity.
  • Ability to analyze logs and monitoring data, troubleshoot infrastructure and access issues, and implement improvements to platform reliability and performance.
  • Ability to work effectively with distributed engineering, cybersecurity, and mission teams, communicate technical issues clearly, and maintain usable technical documentation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure automation tools for managing cloud resources across multiple environments.
  • Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, or managed container services and their deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting needs.
  • Experience supporting federal mission environments or implementing DevSecOps practices in systems with defined security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with backup and recovery testing, capacity planning, or cloud resource and cost optimization.
