Description SAIC is seeking a facilities and hardware technician to work on our program supporting satellite ground systems for the Space Systems Command (SSC), Kirtland AFB, NM. We maintain a secure operations center with multiple rooms and install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all IT and telecom equipment according to safety regulations, preventative maintenance schedules and existing equipment protocols. The position requires frequent physical activity. Such activities include: ability to reach overhead, squat, and bend at the waist; the ability to lift boxes of 50 lbs. or more; ability to climb up and down stairs throughout the day; ability to stand for 2-4 hours at a time; ability to climb ladders; ability to work under raised floors; ability to tolerate working inside and outside in all seasons. JOB DESCRIPTION Interfaces with the customer to handle service inquiries and problems to include performing customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Conducts on-site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action. May make technical presentations and has a strong knowledge of products. Trains customer personnel in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities. Provides technical support for the 30mm and 105mm weapons systems in the areas of field service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and training support to the Air Force squadron at Cannon AFB.
