Description: Function ❑ Responsible for complete build up, tear down, modification, rework and troubleshooting of all gear boxes and related assemblies and accessories. Direct and instruct one or two mechanics as workload requires. Typical Responsibilities ❑ Work from assembly drawings, engineering instructions, check sheets and other written or oral instructions to plan operational sequence and assembly methods, and to incorporate changes. ❑ Assemble major components to build complete gear box install various external parts and accessories. ❑ Replace or match parts to insure that parts are properly fitted, mated and aligned. ❑ Fit and align bearings, shafts, bushings and other component parts. ❑ Press fit parts such as bushings, gears onto shafts, etc., heating and freezing mating details when required. ❑ Tighten all studs and nuts to proper torque and safety wire. ❑ Use power and hand tools to drill, ream, tap, burr, lap, file, polish, change studs, insert helicoils,...
